Yesterday at 14:01 the Patrol were called to a ‘Catamaran Dinghy’ which had sank – apparently someone had forgotten to put the drain bungs in, oops- easily done though. Most of our calls come between 14:00 and 17:00 at the weekend hence why it’s sensible to put patrols out.
The Police RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) assisted in towing them slowly back to shore to meet with the team who checked everyone was ok. The Catamaran was drained of water and probably ready to sail again in ten minutes.

For those of the non-nautical mind a Catamaran is a double hulled boat, not to be confused with a Cata-meringue Which I assume is a boat made from whipped egg whites and powdered sugar. I’d also assume that such a boat might taste nice and would float initially, but doubt it would survive more than a force 2 sea. (You would not believe how many people call them Cata-meringues - always makes me laugh!)
