Tombstoning

What is Tombstoning?

Tombstoning involves jumping or diving from a height into water, and its getting more popular with youngster around the country.

The facts are simple:

IN THE LAST TWO YEARS THERE HAVE BEEN 8 DEATHS AND 18 SERIOUS INJURIES DUE TO TOMBING

So its something we are taking seriously this year and the patrols in Swanage will be working with our partner agencies to reduce the risks and advise people who are taking part in this dangerous activity.

Things to think about........

Water depth alter with the tide:

Water may be shallower than it seems:

Submerged objects like rocks may not be visible:

Cold water may make it difficult to swim:

Strong currents can sweep people away:

Alcohol, drugs or peer pressure affect judgement:

So please talk to your children and friends.......The MCA has put a short pod cast on its web site and shows an interview with Nick Biddlecome. Nick bet 50p and a cigarette he wouldn't jump first, sadly Nick is paralysed now after breaking his neck.
